An evening with Svetlana Zakharova: Modanse comes to Dubai

Production companies M Premiere and MuzArts have announced Modanse, a ballet project set to take place on May 17, 2026, at Dubai Opera. The evening’s star performer will be Svetlana Zakharova, who will appear alongside soloists of the Bolshoi Theatre.
The programme brings together two ballets exploring different dimensions of contemporary dance. Audiences will see an adaptation of a production from La Scala, as well as a biographical ballet dedicated to the life of legendary fashion icon Coco Chanel.
The first part of the evening will feature Like Breathing by Italian choreographer Mauro Bigonzetti — a renewed version of the production created especially for Zakharova. The second act will present Gabrielle Chanel, a large-scale ballet saga tracing Coco Chanel’s journey from a provincial girl to the founder of one of the world’s most iconic fashion houses.
A key element of the production is its visual design, including more than 80 costumes created by Chanel’s team of designers.
