December 2 & 3 will be private sector holidays in the UAE

December 2 and December 3 (Wednesday and Thursday) have been declared paid holidays for the private sector on account of National Day and Martyr's Day.

A long weekend awaits UAE residents in early December as Wednesday and Thursday, December 2 and 3, will be paid holidays for the private sector on the occasion of Martyrs’ Day and the 44th UAE National Day, the Ministry of Labour has announced on Monday. A circular to this end was issued by Minister of Labor Saqr Ghobash.

"In pursuance with the directives of The President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to designate November 30 every year as Martyr's Day as a token of immortality, faithfulness and gratitude to the sacrifices, giving and devotion for the dutiful martyrs of the country, and according to the federal law No 8 of 1980 on regularization of the labor relations and the provision of article 74 and amendments."

On this occasion, Ghobash expressed his congratulations to President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Their Highnesses Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates, as well as Emiratis and residents.

November 30 is Commemoration Day according to the UAE Official Public Holidays 2015 List, however, the ministry has confirmed that it has been clubbed with National Day for the public and private sectors. 

The UAE will go back to work on Sunday, December 6.
