With the party season just around the corner, it’s time to dust off those dancing shoes and dress to impress! Dazzle in a little black dress with these six exercises outlined by ICAN PT, targeting the lower body for toned thighs, slimmer calves, and toned glutes.
- Lateral Lunges are the way to go for lean, toned thighs and glutes. Stand with feet shoulder width apart, hands on hips. Step out to the right, squatting to a 90 degree angle at the right knee. Return to standing position, repeat on the opposite leg. 3 x 20 reps
- Wide Squats: Stand with feet slightly wider than shoulder width apart. Slowly lower to a squatting position, hold for one second, then return to standing position. 3 x 20 reps
- Swiss Ball Squeezes are perfect for toning the inner thighs. Lying on the floor, place the Swiss ball between the knees. Squeeze the knees together, hold for one second, and relax. Repeat. 3 x 30 reps
- Floor Glute Kicks: On all fours, contract the core and glutes. Kick the right leg out as far as possible, hold for one second, and return to the starting position. Repeat on both legs.
3 x 20 reps
- Squat to Calf Raises: Standing with feet apart, lower into a squatting position. Returning to a standing position, rise up onto the toes. Hold for one second, before returning to a neutral position. Repeat. 3 x 20 reps
- Resistance Band Lying Hip Abductions: Lying on one side, loop a resistance band around both ankles. Bracing the core, raise the upper leg straight into the air. Hold for one second, and return to the starting position. Repeat on both sides. 4 x 20 reps
