Emirates Literature Foundation, in partnership with Sofitel Dubai Jumeirah Beach, brings renowned poet and crime writer Sophie Hannah to Dubai as part of the global 'Literary Escapes' by Sofitel Hotels.
Sophie Hannah, author of several poetry collections and the Culver Valley Crime novels, will be discussing Poirot and her poetry at Sofitel JBR at 7:30pm on Sunday, 23 April. She will also be tutoring budding crime writers for a three-day workshop on ‘How to Write a Great Mystery Story’ from 9:30am-12:30pm, 20-22 April. Additionally, she will offer advice and tips during a writing consultation on 23 April for half an hour between 9:30am-12:30pm, for writers who have already begun work on their manuscripts. Seats are limited for the workshops, and it is recommended to purchase tickets early.
Hannah was asked to take on the mantle of Agatha Christie to bring Hercule Poirot back to life in acclaimed novels The Monogram Murders and 2016’s Closed Casket. In March 2017, HarperCollins, Hannah’s publisher, acquired a deal to produce two further Poirot novels in 2018 and 2020.
Isobel Abulhoul, OBE, CEO and Trustee of the Emirates Literature Foundation and Director of the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature said, ‘It is wonderful to have Sophie back in Dubai. She was part of an incredible crime writing programme during the 2015 Emirates Airline Festival of Literature and we are delighted she has returned with more stories to share about our favourite detective Hercule Poirot. We extend our thanks to Sofitel Hotels for providing us such a stimulating venue for these events.’
