Both the leaders recognised the importance of developing economic cooperation and stressed the need for expanding cooperation in the different fields.

President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev made an official visit to the UAE during the period between December 4 and 7.

He met with His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and with General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

During their meeting, Shaikh Mohammed expressed his hope that the visit will lead to positive and useful results for the two friendly countries and their peoples at various levels.

The two sides discussed bilateral relations and ways to enhance them to serve interests of the two peoples. They also exchanged views on current issues, as well as regional and international developments.

Shaikh Mohammed witnessed the signing of eight agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoUs) between the UAE and Kyrgyzstan, including an agreement on Mutual Legal Assistance in criminal matters signed by Dr Anwar Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, and Erlan Abdyldaev, Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan; an agreement on Legal Assistance in civil and commercial matters and an agreement on avoidance of double taxation on income and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion, signed by Obaid bin Humaid Al Tayer, Minister of State for Financial Affairs, and Abdyldaev. Also, an agreement on the protection and promotion of investment and air transport services was signed by Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy, and Abdyldaev, along with an economic cooperation agreement and, finally, a MoU for cooperation in the security field signed by Dr Anwar Gargash and Abdyldaev.

They recognised the importance of developing economic cooperation and stressed the need for expanding cooperation in the different fields such as oil & gas, minerals, chemical industries, renewable energy and tourism.

The talks demonstrated that the two countries share identical views on political fields and joint interests.

It was announced that Kyrgyzstan will open an embassy in Abu Dhabi. It was also agreed to establish a joint commission to open up opportunities for economic and commercial cooperation. The two sides emphasised the necessity of boosting direct contacts among business communities in the two countries.

The UAE and Kyrgyzstan expressed concern over the growing terrorism phenomenon and stressed the need to fight terrorism and to confront terrorist groups including Daesh.

The two sides signed several agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) on avoidance of double taxation on income, promotion of investments, security cooperation, air transport, extradition of criminals, legal assistance in civil and commercial matters and economic cooperation.

The UAE and Kyrgyzstan expressed their commitment to creating an environment of mutual trust and to promoting regional and global stability, referring to the need to resolve regional and international disputes through peaceful and diplomatic means.

The President of Kyrgyzstan expressed gratitude to the leadership and people of the UAE and thanked Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for the warm hospitality.
