Theatre Days in Abu Dhabi: Must-see performances this spring

This spring, several contemporary theatre productions featuring renowned performers will take the stage in Abu Dhabi.

In April and May, iconic venues across the city – Abu Dhabi Theatre and Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental – will host Theatre Days, a series of performances bringing together celebrated artists. Among them are leading dancers and dramatic actors, including stars of Russia’s top theatres such as Vladislav Lantratov and Daria Pavlenko, as well as Maria Smolnikova, Ilya Ozolin, Serafima Goshchanskaya and others.

The series will open with the dance production “The Train Arrives In…”, inspired by the novel Anna Karenina. The performance will take place on April 29 at Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental and will be presented for one night only. The emotionally charged piece explores the inner conflicts of its characters through the language of contemporary dance.

The leading roles will be performed by internationally acclaimed dancer and principal of the Bolshoi Theatre Vladislav Lantratov, alongside the outstanding Daria Pavlenko, former prima of the Mariinsky Theatre who has also collaborated with Pina Bausch’s Tanztheater. Striking сценography that reflects the fragile emotional state of the heroine through powerful visual metaphors, combined with the performers’ artistry, promises to make this production one of the standout cultural events of the season in Abu Dhabi.
