MEED has named Emirates Aqua Technologies' Caviar Factory, operated by Bin Salem Holding, as the winner of the GCC's C2HM Award for Innovation for using new and advanced methods to rear and grow sturgeons .
The Abu Dhabi plant, which is the world's biggest caviar factory, was announced as one of the winners at the prestigious MEED Quality Awards for Projects 2015, in association with Mashreq, at a gala awards ceremony held in Dubai at MEED's Construction Leadership Summit.
Two special awards were also handed out during the ceremony. The MEED Editor's Award for Leadership, given to Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman, Dubai Roads and Transport Authority, RTA, and The MEED Editor's Award for Outstanding Achievement in Project Delivery, which was presented to the Al Maryah Island Project Team, Mubadala Real Estate and Infrastructure.
The Emirates Aqua Technologies' Caviar Factory Project, nominated by Emirates AquaTech, was recognised for using new and advanced methods to rear and grow sturgeon. It is the world's largest indoor facility for raising an endangered species and will produce 35 tons of caviar and 500 tons of sturgeon meat.
The project will provide a sustainable, legal, moral and fresh supply of caviar to the world markets around the year.
The MEED Quality Awards for Projects is now in its 5th year and this year was the biggest to date.

"The growing number of entrants is a reflection of the continuing strength of the projects sector in the region, with more projects being completed year-on-year.
