Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi Ports and SIDDCO group signed a Dh130 million Musataha agreement to set up an engineering facility at Khalifa Port’s industrial zone (Kizad).
The new facility branded as “iNGENIUM” will deliver precision automated engineering and fabrication for the regional oil and gas sector, Abu Dhabi Ports said in a statement.
Mohammad Juma Al Shamsi, chief executive officer of Abu Dhabi Ports said continuous growth in the oil and gas sector has led to the demand for companies like iNGENIUM to establish manufacturing facilities in the region.
“The new facility will cater to the oil and gas industry’s growth and create business opportunities and jobs in the emirate, directly supporting the diversification of our nation’s economy.”
According to Abu Dhabi Ports, the iNGENIUM site is spread over a plot covering 122,000 square metres, with direct access to Kizad’s modular path, a dedicated road for moving oversized equipment between the investors’ facility and Khalifa Port, in a swift and economical manner.
Growing need
Zakee Seddiqi, chairman and chief executive officer of SIDDCO Group said there is a growing need for the engineering and fabrication of storage tanks, pressure vessels, heat exchangers and modular equipment.
“Most of this equipment is currently manufactured internationally, which incurs associated lead times, transport and labour costs. By setting up our new facility iNGENIUM in Abu Dhabi, it will act as a facilitator for such projects to be carried out in the Mena (Middle East and North Africa) region instead,” he added.
