The 76th Venice International Film Festival is organized by La Biennale di Venezia, and runs at Lido di Venezia from 28th August to 7th September 2019. The Festival is officially recognized by the FIAPF (International Federation of Film Producers Association).
The 2019 Venice Film Festival kicked off on Wednesday, and similarly to Cannes, this special event boasts the same red carpet must-haves: Models! Gowns and jewellery! Great gowns and high jewellery! Of course, there are the anticipated films and talented actors who show up in their best ensembles, too, but let's be real: It's all about the fancy red carpet.
So far, the fashion bar is high. Iman arrived at the opening ceremony and screening of "La Vérité" (The Truth) in Valentino Couture — birds, feathers and all — straight from its Fall 2019 runway show in July.
Candice Swanepoel and Elsa Hosk wore slinky, custom Etro dresses that had a slight throwback vibe, and red carpet staples Alberta Ferretti and Armani Prive were spotted on a few lucky ladies as well. Elsa Hosk was wearing the Wild Moon and Snake Dance High Jewelry rings from the 'Born To Be Wild' Messika collection and My Twin ear clips.
The actress Liv Tyler wore a long bustier dress with drawstring details in matte black silk taffeta Givenchy Haute Couture Fall-Winter 2019 outfit, designed by Clare Waight Keller, to the Ad Astra Premiere on August 29th 2019 at Sala Grande in Venice, Italy.
The “Seberg” star Kristen Stewart hit the red carpet in a shimmering pink floral gown from Chanel’s couture fall ’19 collection, which doesn’t come as much of a surprise as she’s an ambassador for the iconic luxury French fashion house.
The aim of the Festival is to raise awareness and promote international cinema in all its forms as art, entertainment and as an industry, in a spirit of freedom and dialogue. In addition to the sections mentioned in the following paragraphs, the Festival also organises retrospectives and tributes to major figures as a contribution towards a better understanding of the history of cinema.
