Saluting the wondrous world of maritime history, Ulysse Nardin honors the Kruzenshtern in its new Classico Collection limited-edition enamel cloisonné timepiece. Built in Germany in 1926 and originally known as the Padua, the barque, tall ship with its four masts was given to the USSR in 1946 as war reparation, and was integrated into the Soviet Baltic Fleet. Consequently, she was renamed Kruzenshtern after the 19th century Baltic German explorer in Russian service, Adam Johann Krusenstern. Her missions, journeys and services are vast, and today, she operates primarily as a training ship.
To accurately portray her real-time appearance, Ulysse Nardin employed the intensely intricate enamel cloisonné technique – a discipline deeply valued by the manufacturer and its collectors. In this method, opaque or translucent colors are derived by mixing proportions of elements to achieve specific combinations, often kept a secret. Each section is divided by fine gold wire; more than 500mm of it is needed to make the cloisons. Every cloisonné dial and it is limited to 30 pieces. It has an hour, minute and seconds hand. It has a round 40mm 18k rose gold case enshrining a Kruzenshtern enamel dial depicting an ancient ship sails blown out in full force and it is powered in turn by a Calibre 11 ½ inches UN-815 self winding movement is water resistant to 50 meters and is matched by an alligator strap.

A true icon of the Rome-based firm, Bulgari’s Serpenti watch inaugurates an original variation on its curvaceously sensual design. For the very first time, the head and tail of the legendary snake cross over on the wrist in a remarkably supple composition. Reflecting Bvlgari’s inexhaustible creativity, this latest work of art also represents a goldsmithing masterpiece. The entirely hand-crafted gold bracelet breaks free of its inner spring and provides a perfectly comfortable fit by means of adjustable links, while the hold is secured by a twin-pusher clasp. The expertise of the Italian jeweller is expressed through a fascinating brilliant-cut diamond setting sublimating the dial, case and bracelet. Swiss luxury brand Chopard unveiled four incredible high jewellery pieces in its newest Green Carpet capsule collection at the 68th Cannes Film Festival. Inspired by the iconic Palme d'Or to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the iconic award, the new collection features a design complementing the brand’s journey to sustainable luxury.
Chopard, which has been crafting the Palme d’Or since 1998 as part of its long standing partnership with the world’s leading film festival, launched last year the first Palme d’Or in Fairmined gold - to mark its commitment to its multi-year program: the Journey to Sustainable Luxury. Its design recalls the leaves of the palm tree and portrays the dial of the watch lovingly encircled by a palm frond and lavished over with diamonds. This is the second consecutive year the London-based luxury jeweler Graff showcases it collections at Baselworld. Inspired by the Art Deco period, the awesome new Sapphire and Diamond Secret Tassel Brooch watch is a complex piece with multiple layers of beaded tassels that can be worn three ways: as a single piece, as individual brooches, or as a single brooch with a tassel. It uses more than 330 carats of sapphires and 40 carats of diamonds and took months to make. One of the tassel groupings conceals a tiny pavé diamond watch face suspended from a platinum chain. Designed and crafted at Graff’s London headquarters, the technique to create a cascading beaded tassel required matching sapphire beads in order to create a consistent three dimensional appearance no matter how the jewel is worn. Framing the tassel are two ornate brooches with pear shape sapphires at their centers embraced by an arrangement of white diamonds united by five rows of sapphire and diamond beads.
American luxury brand Harry Winston’s Ocean Biretrograde 36mm for women features bold, elegant details including an ex-centered Hour/Minute display and two retrograde functions. This new interpretation showcases mechanisms imbued with a technological beauty that do not go unnoticed. The mechanical complication movement – that has been part of the Ocean Lady collection since its launch in 2006 – has been entirely redesigned and notably features a silicon balance-spring. In addition to silicon’s resistance to corrosion, the material is highly durable and wears well over time. Bridges adorned with a circular Côtes de Genève are centered around the balance; and a new design for the rose gold oscillating weight on women’s models, which are specific to each collection. This revisited caliber shows a keen focus on space and ensures a read-off that is airy, yet easy to decipher. The indexes are shaped like an emerald-cut diamond, said to be a shape dear to Mr. Winston’s heart. They are extended by clearly visible diamonds also picked up on the retrograde seconds and day counters, and swept over by the respective hands.
The raised counters, as well as the invisible wall-to-wall diamond-setting on the shimmering mother-of-pearl, are delicately layered, further enhancing the architectural quality of the dial. Shown in a subtle blue-gray shade, that hovers between day and night, it exudes a mysterious and seductive quality, while further accentuating the contemporary nature of the model. The case is fitted with an entirely redesigned crown, beveled decorative pushers, elongated lugs and arches with even purer lines. The size and quality of the gems adorning each part reflect the House’s legacy of the finest diamonds.
The Slim d'Hermès captures the essence of pure form. The 39.5 mm watch measures time to the beat of the Hermès H1950 extra-thin Manufacture movement, and can incorporate a perpetual calendar. This automatic calibre integrates a micro-rotor, thus reducing its height to a mere 2.6 mm. Versions measuring 32 or 25 mm in diameter are driven by a quartz movement, and crafted in steel or gold, with or without diamonds. Its unique Slim D’Hermes La Femme Aux Semelles De Vent features a porcelain dial from the French Manufacture Nationale de Sèvres. It showcases a “La femme aux semelles de vent” (the woman with soles of wind) motif, using a traditional Japanese miniature painting technique in various shades of red, and is limited and numbered in a series of 12.

De Witt The DeWitt Manufacture has created a masterpiece of the watchmaker's and the jeweller's art: a unique timepiece with transparent features and finely-worked gold decoration
Count Jérôme de Witt, the founder of the Manufacture and creator of DeWitt watches created this exceptional High Jewellery work of art paying tribute to his mother, HI&RH Princess Marie-Clotilde Napoléon. The gem-setting technique used in this 36mm piece is ground-breaking, seeming to leave the diamonds in suspension, free of all ties of material and form. The observer's gaze is relentlessly drawn down into the depths of a translucent block and captivated by its surprising transparency.
It is adorned with a total of 405 baguette-cut diamonds (totalling about 13 carats). The emblematic imperial columns that decorate the majority of DeWitt watches have been delicately reworked to enhance the timepiece's unique, ethereal setting. The Marie-Clotilde watch beats to the rhythm of a mechanical self-winding movement, equipped with a 42-hour power reserve. The open-worked hours hand is delicately sculpted in the shape of a heart, while the open-worked seconds hand is in the form of a double-edged sword, a common feature of DeWitt timepieces. The crown and buckle, each crafted in 18k white gold, polished and delicately engraved with the brand's distinctive ‘W’ signature, give an additional elegant touch to the watch's finishes, enhanced by a deep red alligator wristband. By placing technical expertise at the service of beauty and the highest quality, the DeWitt Manufacture has here produced an authentic watchmaking work of art, creative in both its design and in the structure around which it is built.
