Al Habtoor City is an upscale residential, hospitality and leisure development consisting of three five-star hotels -The. St Regis Dubai; W Dubai – Al Habtoor City and The Westin Dubai, Al Habtoor City - on Sheikh Zayed Road on the banks of the Dubai Water Canal with unparalleled amenities, and spectacular leisure and entertainment venues. The Aviamost team met the GM of W Dubai, Al Habtoor City Peter Katusak-huzsvar to know the property’s plans for Russian and Chinese guests…
We know that W Dubai was opened recently. So which groups are you targeting?
We definitely target GCC, then the US, UK and Russia and Chinese markets are important. In Russia we are present only in St Petersburg. But in Mainland China we have four properties so we have loyal clients who want to have the same kind of experience, so we can leverage on it. And as you know, W is a global innovative, lifestyle brand and we are trying to keep that up in the local market. W has a certain passion for fashion, music and design and we want to give the client a unique experience not found anywhere else in Dubai.
What is mainly challenging during an opening?
Of course there are many challenges when an opening takes place. And we are on the right track for the opening in May.
With so many openings of new hotels taking place, how do you plan to stand out?
With the DNA of the brand and our approach with brand differentiators like the W Happenings we will stand out. We are always looking out for what’s new and what’s next on the market.
Tell us how important is the Chinese market to you.
There is tremendous potential in the Chinese market. It has 300 – 400 million people to travel outside China and have the power to spend money and seek to experience something new. So they know the brand which is amazing.
What do you see special about Chinese guests?
Their eating habits. I think it’s important to bring them something which they are familiar with. So we try to capitalize on our experience in China and tailor our offerings accordingly.
How do you look after your Russian guests?
They know what they want and what they can have. They need a lot of attention and great service. There is the language barrier, so their likes and dislikes are very important. So it’s important to have Russian-speaking colleagues as if they hear someone talking Russian they will all go to them, even if they know excellent English.
