His Excellency Essa Kazim, Governor of Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), earlier this week welcomed His Excellency Nursultan Nazarbayev, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as a high level delegation from Kazakhstan visited DIFC for a series of meetings and presentations, in presence of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Supreme Fiscal Committee and His Excellency Abdul Rahman Bin Mohammed Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention.
His Excellency Nazarbayev and the delegation embarked on a special itinerary to gain a better understanding of DIFC, its organisational structure and the opportunities it offers in terms of business expansion, with Arif Amiri, CEO Dubai International Financial Centre also present at the event.
His Excellency Essa Kazim, Governor of Dubai International Financial Centre, said: “We are proud to welcome this esteemed delegation from Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan is already an important trading partner for Dubai, and through this most recent visit we continue to strengthen our ties - especially in light of this year’s UAE participation in Expo Astana.
“We have embarked on an important process of knowledge exchange, with DIFC’s Courts advising Kazakhstan’s central bank on establishing a world class commercial court system. It is through establishing this kind of dialogue that financial centres such as DIFC and Astana International Financial Centre continue to thrive and grow.”
The group of delegates from the republic also included His Excellency Askar Mamin, the First Deputy Prime Minister, Nurlan Onzhanov, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kairat Lama Sharif, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to UAE, Kairat Kelimbetov, Governor of Astana International Financial Centre, Asset Issekeshev, Mayor of Astana city, Abay Bissembayev, Head of the Department for Presidential Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Nurlan Kussainov, CEO of Astana International Financial Centre Authority.
