Gulf News -- If you’re driving near Ibn Battuta Mall on Thursday, watch out for road diversions and possible delays on your journey.
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has announced that it will be carrying out road works as part of its expansion project for Route 2020.
From midnight November 9 to the morning of November 11, traffic from the Northbound Exit on Ibn Battuta Road will be diverted, according to the RTA.
Motorists are advised to use alternative routes.
Drilling work on Route 2020 started at the end of Octobeк, and passes through Discovery Gardens, Green Community, and Dubai Investment Park up to the Expo 2020 venue.
Route 2020 will be served by seven stations, including a transfer station with the Red Line at Nakheel Harbour and Tower Station, an Expo station.
Three of the stations will be elevated and two underground.
Recently, a video was posted on social media to mark the three-year countdown to Expo 2020 by none other than Princess Haya Bint Al Hussain, wife of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
Accompanied with the caption, Princess Haya wrote: “Today marks exactly three years until Expo 2020 Dubai officially opens its doors to 25 million visitors from around the world. Planned to offer a futuristic platform where human ingenuity meets next generation tech, Expo 2020 Dubai will showcase and explore what is possible when new ideas and people connect. And there is no better place than Dubai to do just that.”
