Fancy zipping down from a tower overlooking the Burj Khalifa as stunning views of the Dubai Fountain whizzes past you? Well, get in line!
Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, zip-lined above the Dubai Fountain on Friday, creating a flurry on social media and instantly popularising the adventure sport.
Within 24 hours, over 120,000 people liked a video on Instagram that showed him zip-lining. Many people vowed to visit the emirate just for this.
Edwin Laagland posted: "This is what I call a Thrill!!! This beats every other activity that you can do in Dubai. Who dares to join me? (sic)"
Aoife O' Dowd commented on Facebook: "I wanna go to Dubai just for this!!"
The stunt was part of the launch of the "XLine" zip-line ride by XDubai that runs extreme sport activities in Dubai. "It was Great to have @faz3 as our first guest to try the #XLine in#DownTownDubai! Follow us to find out how you could be#next!," the company posted on Instagram on Sunday evening.
The video of Shaikh Hamdan riding a zip-line suspended above Downtown Dubai, with Burj Khalifa in the background, was posted on his Instagram page on Saturday evening.
It showed the adventurous Crown Prince strapped in a safety harness zipping down the wire over the Dubai Fountain. The15-second long video captured his slide down from a tower overlooking the Burj Khalifa to the premises of The Dubai Mall.
During the stunt, he was also seen splashing through the water jets of the fountain. Dubai's most iconic water landmark, the 275m-long Dubai Fountain, shoots water jets as high as 150m.
XDubai is now running a social media competition to select winners who will be invited to experience the breathtaking views of the fountain while leaping off and swinging across Downtown Dubai. As of now, the company is admitting riders by invitation only.
"Experience the #XLine by following us and tagging three friends to join you. 30 lucky winners every week!" the company, which was also behind the Jetman's recent stunt in Dubai, posted on its social media pages.
Terms and conditions include minimum age of 10 years for riders. Those below 18 years need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Minimum weight and height range are given as 50-110kg and 1.40-2.10m respectively.
