Studio M Arabian Plaza Hotel & Hotel Apartments, the lifestyle property by Millennium Hotels & Resorts under the M collection, participated in the world’s largest grassroots movement for environmental action – Earth Hour. The initiative aimed to draw attention to the threat of climate change and highlight the need for action.
The team at Studio M Arabian Plaza joined billions of people across the world by switching off the external facade lights, indoor lights in public areas and restaurants and turned off the electrical appliances for one hour – 08:30 pm to 09:30 pm on Saturday, March 30th 2019 as a symbolic gesture to protect our planet by taking charge of their ecological footprint.
Ursula Chidiac, General Manager, Studio M Arabian Plaza said, “Participation during the Earth Hour is an outstanding forum for us to showcase our commitment towards working for a sustainable future. It is important now more than ever to raise awareness and take charge of activities to protect the planet for future generations.”
As part of its commitment to change the planet for better, the lifestyle property has implemented numerous sustainable initiatives since its operation to reduce its emissions and has installed energy-efficient lighting across the property and smart LED lighting inside the rooms for energy conservation. In a bid to choose sustainable products and reduce paper consumption, the property has also embraced hotel room technology by installing Smart TV’s to offer a premium in-room experience and keeping the guests informed of hotel events, special offers, etc. It has also introduced digital methods to receive real-time feedback from guests leading to higher satisfaction levels and eliminating the ‘pen and paper’ approach. The employees also take part in meaningful water conservation efforts and internal waste segregation.
“As a lifestyle property with Generation Y as its prime audience, we understand it is highly important for them to know whatever they are buying or experiencing aligns with their personal values. We pledge to constantly look for ways to utilize technology and implement measures to help tackle the planet’s current environmental concerns.” added Ursula.
