Tilal Liwa Hotel celebrates annual Liwa Date Festival

Tilal Liwa Hotel, a secluded hideaway leisure resort perched on the edge of Rub Al Khalil Desert in Abu Dhabi’s Empty Quarter, invites UAE residents and visitors to join the region’s celebration of the annual Liwa Date Festival from July 22 to 30, 2015.

Held at the Al Gharbia region, the festival which is now on its 11th year promotes and celebrates the symbolic and historic role that the date palm plays in Emirati culture. The various activities of the festival celebrate the heritage of the Emiratis, reviving their diverse traditions and unique way of life.

Attracting about 70,000 tourists and visitors, including both nationals and residents, the Liwa Date Festival features several competitions with hundreds of prizes to be won. The competitions include Mazaynas (beauty competitions) for the best dates, best lemons and best mangoes as well as the traditional market, the Dar Fruits Basket Competition (Fruits of the House), the Best Heritage Model competition, the Model Farm Award and the activities of the Children’s Villages where young visitors can learn about the history of the palm tree and the authenticity of the Emirati heritage.

To join this much-awaited celebration, Tilal Liwa Hotel has prepared a special package for residents and visitors for them to experience the culture, heritage and tradition of the UAE. During the festival, hotel guests will enjoy room rates starting from Dhs 699 which include complimentary buffet breakfast, lunch or dinner. The package also includes transportation to the festival, 10-minute camel ride, 20% discount on food and beverage, massage and laundry service. Guests booking a second night stay get 10% discount on the room rate.
