Nature’s snow-covered landscapes of the festive season inspire legendary Parisian Maison Van Cleef & Arpels annual event Diamond Breeze. Across its boutiques and website, collections adorned entirely with white diamonds take centre stage transporting jewellery lovers to a magical realm…
From mid-November, Van Cleef’s website tempts you to step into a snowy fairyland in an interactive video featuring its stunning white diamond collections against a frosty backdrop. Borne along by the breeze, the visitor can explore each glittering jewel, its inspiration and the different skills that go behind its creation. The virtual tour also showcases a broader selection of jewellery and watchmaking pieces lit up by the glamour of diamonds and perfect for the year-end gifting season.
White jewels in the spotlight
In this selection of sparkling pieces, Van Cleef gives pride of place to one of its great traditions: white jewellery. Enchanted by the natural beauty of diamonds, it has celebrated their vibrant beauty in timeless pieces against settings of white gold and platinum. This style was much in vogue during the Art Deco period as well as in the 50’s and the 60’s and has endured over the years unfurling some of the world’s most enthralling creations.
In this edition of Diamond Breeze, the Snowflake necklace featuring diamond flakes, competes for attention alongside the Lotus collection and the À Cheval High Jewellery pieces which return to the spotlight on this occasion.
Lotus love
An eternal symbol of purity the lotus blooms in three dimensions in a trio of different-sized pendants under Van Cleef & Arpels magic wand. Featuring delicately superimposed petals dazzling with round diamonds forming a corolla of light, these pieces showcase various setting techniques such as ‘perle de rosee’ grain setting, closed setting and prong setting, along with openwork on the rear magnifying the flow of light manifold. What’s more, two of the pieces are transformable and can also be worn as clips for some mood magic!
Snowflakes are falling on my head…
The Maisons love for snowflakes goes back to the 40’s presenting an utterly feminine line of jewels composed of a necklace, bracelet, pendants, earrings and two ring designs set with round brilliants and evoking the sparkle of snow on a wintry day.
À Cheval it is
In the A’Cheval jewels a unique relief setting technique sees the diamonds beautifully superimposed, creating a dazzling brilliance. The collection takes its name after this specific technique created in 1981 and named À Cheval or ‘on both sides’. You’re sure to adore its transformable necklace, a bracelet, and earrings, and - since 2015 – a High Jewellery watch.
In keeping with its hailed tradition of impeccable standards, Van Cleef & Arpels selects diamonds of the highest quality for its pieces. Central stones and paved surfaces alike: rated D,E or F for colour and IF to VVS2 for clarity witness a unique combination celebrating cut and carat, clarity and colour, in an extraordinary celebration of light and visionary excellence.
