The United Arab Emirates has strongly condemned the targeting of a hospital in East Darfur, Sudan, which resulted in dozens of deaths and injuries, calling the incident a serious breach of international humanitarian law.
In a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, officials denounced the attack and reaffirmed the country’s firm rejection of any violence directed at civilians or civilian infrastructure. The ministry stressed the critical importance of protecting medical facilities and healthcare workers, warning against their involvement in ongoing conflicts.
The UAE reiterated its long-standing position advocating for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire, urging all parties to halt hostilities and prioritize the protection of civilian lives. It also called for the urgent and unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid to those affected by the conflict.
Furthermore, the ministry emphasized the need for a credible political transition led by an inclusive civilian government, independent from warring factions and extremist groups, as a pathway toward stability.
The UAE also urged the United Nations Security Council to take decisive action and implement all necessary measures to ensure compliance by the conflicting parties with international obligations.
The situation in East Darfur remains volatile, with international concern mounting over the humanitarian impact of continued violence in the region.
