MODANSE with Svetlana Zakharova Comes to Dubai Opera

Prima ballerina of the Bolshoi Theatre and Étoile of Teatro alla Scala, Svetlana Zakharova, will perform at Dubai Opera on 8 March 2026 in MODANSE, a project by the MuzArts Production.

The show programme features two ballets performed by the world-renowned ballerina together with artists of the Bolshoi Theatre: an adaptation of a Teatro alla Scala production and a biographical ballet dedicated to the life of the legendary Coco Chanel.

The first ballet, “Like Breathing”, is a work by Italian choreographer Mauro Bigonzetti. This is a new version of his own ballet, originally premiered at Teatro alla Scala, where the leading roles were performed by Svetlana Zakharova and Roberto Bolle. The new interpretation of this one-act ballet was created especially for Svetlana Zakharova. The musical score is based on selected works by George Frideric Handel.

The second part of the programme features the ballet “Gabrielle CHANEL”, a vivid saga devoted to the life and creative legacy of the incomparable Chanel. The production traces Gabrielle’s journey from an unknown provincial singer to the head of one of the most influential fashion houses in the world, forever transforming 20th-century fashion. Notably, for this project, the CHANEL design team led by Virginie Viard, Creative Director of the House, created more than 80 costumes. Fashion and dance, ballet and the life of Gabrielle Chanel — all in one breath.
