The military of Israel has announced the start of a ground operation in Lebanon. The statement was released by the press service of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
According to the military, the operation began overnight on Monday. Israeli forces are conducting what they described as a “targeted and limited raid” in border areas in southern Lebanon.
The statement said the operation is aimed at locating and eliminating Hezbollah fighters as well as destroying the group’s infrastructure.
Earlier reports indicated that Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon last week resulted in numerous civilian casualties. According to local sources, entire families were among the victims, including a pregnant woman.
Tensions along the Israel–Lebanon border remain high, raising concerns that the conflict could further escalate across the region.
