On 21 May, Breitling hosted an exclusive presentation of its refreshed Chronomat collection at its boutique in Dubai Mall, unveiling a new chapter for one of the brand’s most emblematic sports watch families.
Originally created in the 1980s for the Italian Air Force aerobatic squadron Frecce Tricolori, the Chronomat was conceived as a bold fusion of precision engineering, robustness, and refined style. It was designed to perform under extreme flight conditions while maintaining a strong aesthetic presence beyond the cockpit. Over the decades, it evolved into one of Breitling’s most versatile icons, widely recognized for its distinctive rider tabs and signature Rouleaux bracelet.
The 2026 update does not reinvent the Chronomat, but rather refines its identity through a series of considered improvements. The most notable evolution is the transition to a fully integrated case-and-bracelet construction, enhancing visual continuity while improving wearability. At the same time, Breitling has preserved the watch’s recognisable silhouette and core DNA, ensuring instant familiarity for long-time enthusiasts.
The Chronomat B01 42 has been reworked for improved ergonomics, with a slimmer profile and a more streamlined bezel that enhances legibility and wrist comfort. It is powered by the in-house Breitling Manufacture Caliber 01, delivering a 70-hour power reserve and COSC-certified precision. Subtle adjustments to proportions and finishing give the model a more refined and contemporary presence without compromising its sporty character.
The collection also expands with the Chronomat Automatic B31 40, introduced with the new Manufacture Caliber B31 offering up to 78 hours of power reserve. This version marks a significant step in offering a more compact, everyday interpretation of the Chronomat, balancing technical performance with understated elegance in a versatile 40mm case.
Completing the lineup, the Chronomat Automatic 36 brings a more universal approach to sizing, designed to suit a broader range of wrists. It features a slimmer case construction and refined dial executions, including mother-of-pearl variants and diamond-set bezels, adding a more expressive and jewelry-like dimension to the collection.
Across the entire range, the design language remains consistent: confident, functional, and unmistakably Breitling. Rather than dramatic reinvention, the new Chronomat focuses on precision-level refinements—proving that even the smallest adjustments can deliver a significant impact in both performance and presence.
