The Union of Journalists of Kazakhstan, in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, is running a contest to find the best articles on Kazakhstan written by foreign journalists.
The contest, assessed by a panel drawn from members of the Union of Journalists and distinguished guests, aims to find high quality, insightful reporting on Kazakhstan in foreign media. The contest is open to journalists from North and South America; Europe; CIS countries; Africa and the Middle East; Asia, Australia and Oceania, with one winner selected from each region.
Those wishing to participate should send an article of up to 1,500 words published in English or Russian between January 1 and June 30, 2015 to contest@mfa.kz.
The article should cover one or more of the following areas relating to Kazakhstan: economy and trade, culture and traditions, history, tourism and contemporary society.
The winners will be given a tour of Kazakhstan, which will include visits to Astana and Almaty. The tour will also incorporate an extensive cultural programme. Flights, accommodation and transport will be covered.
Winners will have the opportunity to meet with Kazakhstani officials, journalists, as well as science and culture representatives. Competition entrants can be journalists representing foreign print and online media, freelancers, as well as individuals interested in Kazakhstan.
