Etihad Airways leveraged its sponsorships of global fashion weeks and its Platinum Partner status of Louvre Abu Dhabi to launch a new Emirati designed loungewear collection at an exclusive reception held last night at the iconic cultural institution. Dubai’s tourism sector rallied strongly, steadily picking up pace through the first three months of 2018 in light of growing currency pressures as it continued to retain and grow share across global markets. flydubai to operate to five points in Iraq with the restart of flights to Sulaimaniyah

flydubai, the Dubai-based airline, announced today that flights to Sulaimaniyah will resume from 10 May 2018. The carrier now operates to five points in Iraq including Baghdad, Basra, Erbil and Najaf. The decision to relaunch the flights was taken following the Iraqi authorities’ announcement that that the airport reopened in March 2018.

UAE President passes decree paving way for expats to represent country’s sports teams

Expatriates will soon be eligible to join local clubs and represent the country in all sports in what is being called a "ground-breaking occasion in the history of UAE sports" following a decree from the President, Sheikh Khalifa.

As of September, men married to Emirati women as well as children born in the UAE and any player who resides in the Emirates will be eligible to register for sports clubs and, potentially, represent the country.

UAE funds rebuilding of Mosul’s Al Nuri Mosque and historic minaret

The UAE will fund the rebuilding of the Great Mosque of Al Nuri, which was last year destroyed by ISIS in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul. The Ministry of Culture has funded the UN’s heritage agency, Unesco, in a US$50.4 million (Dh185.1m) plan to rebuild the mosque, which was where ISIS leader Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi announced in 2014 that he had established a “caliphate” in Iraq and Syria.
