Celebrating Russia Day in the UAE
Overview of Russia National Day celebrations organized in Abu Dhabi and Dubai by the Russian Embassy in the UAE and the Consulate General of Russia in Dubai and Northern Emirates
June 12 is the Day of Russia, marked by recent historical events but became as a major national holiday celebrated by those all who put the country’s interests above their own, regardless of age or political beliefs. For most Russians, this festival brings together millions of people who associate their future with the future of their country. The festivities in honor of Russia are celebrated in many countries including the United Arab Emirates.
Last June 11, 2012 saw the celebration of the Day of Russia as commemorated at the Beach Rotana Abu Dhabi held a reception on the occasion of Russia. As the chief guest, His Excellency Dr. Hadef Zhauan Al Daher, UAE Minister of Justice, graced the said event as well as prominent representatives of the UAE and the business community, ambassadors and diplomats accredited in the UAE, members of the Russian diaspora.
Presenting the national anthems of the UAE and Russia was made by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to the UAE A.V.Andreev.
On the following day, June 12, Mina A’Salam saw the a state reception on the national holiday of Russia -" Russia Day ", organized by the Consulate General of Russia in Dubai and Northern Emirates. The gala event was attended by over 300 guests, among whom were UAE Minister of Education, His Excellency Humaid Mohammed Obaid Al Khatami, Sheikh Juma Bin Maktoum Juma Al Maktoum, the members of the ruling family of Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman, Dubai, heads of state institutions, heads of foreign diplomatic and consular missions and representatives of major local and foreign businessmen, compatriots. Speaking to the guests was the Russian Federation Consul General in Dubai and Northern Emirates, Gotcha Buachidze who addressed the guests with a welcoming speech and congratulated all the participants with the main state holiday - the Day of Russia.
