Copthorne Hotel Dubai, part of Millennium Hotels & Resorts, showed love and support to the community by heartily organising a blood donation drive on Valentine’s Day.

In collaboration with the Dubai Blood Donation Centre in Latifa Hospital, a total of 18 hotel employees bravely and proudly donated blood to support the noble cause that will help save the lives of many.

Glenn Nobbs, General Manager, commented:  “We always take up meaningful initiatives to contribute back to the society and blood donation is one way of showing our love and support. Donating blood is an easy way to help save lives in times of emergencies and also sustain the lives of those with medical conditions so it feels good knowing you have given an important gift to someone that could change their life. Blood donation can also help the donor to maintain good health so it is both important and beneficial.”

Blood donations are generally used to treat patients suffering from cancer, anemia, childbirth complications, after accidents, or during surgery. Moreover, it is a safe process and even a single donation can save up to three lives.

The blood donation campaign is an annual event organised by Copthorne Hotel Dubai as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility program. The hotel team is very active when it comes to CSR activities and has been regularly participating in various local and international awareness campaigns such as Earth Hour, Beat the Diabetes Walk, Recycling and even introduced their own Wellness Week in November 2016.

“We are seeing increased participation from the hotel team which reflects their willingness to contribute to charitable activities. We would like to express our appreciation to the medical team of Latifa Hospital for providing this opportunity and we commend them for the work that they do in making sure there is safe and adequate supply of blood to private and government hospitals in Dubai,” added Nobbs.

A total of 8,100ml of blood were collected for the blood bank, making this a successful event.
