WAM -- Department of Economic Development in Dubai, and its three agencies Dubai SME, Dubai Trade and Exports, and Dubai Investment Development Agency (Dubai FDI), have adopted a new corporate identity in line with the mandate given to them to organise economic activity in the Emirate of Dubai.
In addition to replacing the old name ‘Department of Economic Development’ with ‘Dubai Economy,’ the new identity is represented by a unified logo built around the image of Dubai creek, the commercial lifeline of the emirate and the cradle of its history and culture.
The new identity reflects the continuity in the tasks assigned to department and its agencies as well as their achievements in implementing the vision of the leadership to make the emirate number one in various fields through enhancing economic diversification, sustainability, competitiveness and ease of doing business, protecting rights of traders and consumers, supporting entrepreneurship and small and medium enterprises (SMEs), accelerating foreign trade and exports, and attracting knowledge-based and innovation-driven foreign capital.
Dubai Economy is the government body entrusted to set and drive the economic agenda of the emirate of Dubai, UAE. It supports the structural transformation of Dubai into a diversified, innovative service-based economy that aims to improve the business environment and accelerate productivity growth. The Business Registration and Licensing sector and The Commercial Compliance and Consumer Protection sector in the department play important roles in promoting Dubai as a competitive and preferred destination for starting and growing businesses.
The Dubai SME aims to foster an entrepreneurial culture and develop a competitive SME sector for the Emirate of Dubai. The key strategies adopted by department are; advocate a pro-business environment for developing entrepreneurship and SMEs, seed innovative start-ups and groom promising SMEs.
The Dubai Trade and Exports is mandated to facilitate trade from Dubai and establish itself as a world-class export development and promotion body by creating an enabling environment for Dubai’s exporters. The department has developed a range of value-added trade support services to UAE-based firms exporting through Dubai, for accelerated and profitable expansion of their businesses in foreign markets.
The Dubai FDI develops, promotes and supports Foreign Direct Investment opportunities to facilitate investors’ success, growth and expansion in Dubai and the UAE as well as across regional and international markets.
