A new Salik gate will be installed on Dubai's Sheikh Zayed Road on October 23, the Roads and Transport Authority has confirmed.
The launch of the new toll gate, on the road towards Abu Dhabi after Ibn Battuta Mall, is expected to ease traffic in Downtown Dubai.
The seventh toll gate will generate hundreds of thousands in annual revenues. Each time drivers pass under a Salik gate, they are charged Dh4.
Two major road projects — the seventh interchange on the Sheikh Zayed Road Project and Al Yalayis Road Improvement Project — designed to ease traffic on Sheikh Zayed Road will be completed on 15 September.
The projects will enhance the link between Sheikh Zayed Road and both Mohammed bin Zayed Road and Emirates Road. They will ease traffic flow by diverting the traffic inbound from Abu Dhabi on the Sheikh Zayed Road to Yalayis Road and on to the Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and Emirates Road.
