Dubai: The Higher Preparatory Committee of Expo 2020 Dubai met on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Shaikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Higher Preparatory Committee, President of Dubai Civil Aviation and Chairman and CEO of Emirates airline and Group, ahead of a series of key events this autumn, to discuss updates on the progress on the delivery of an exceptional World Expo in 2020.

Reem Bint Ebrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State and Director-General of Bureau Expo 2020 Dubai, presented the steps being taken in preparation for the formal registration of the Expo, which will take place at the Bureau International Des Expositions, the world governing body for Expos, in Paris this November.

Reem’s update included a discussion on the latest enhancements to the Expo site master-plan, which sets out how the Expo site in Dubai South will be developed ahead of the opening of the Expo.

The master-plan has been designed to facilitate innovation and foster collaboration and partnerships, and form the basis of an enduring legacy that fully reflects the Expo’s theme of “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future”.

During the six months of the Expo, it is expected that the event will host 25 million visits, 70 per cent of which will be international, which will make Expo 2020 Dubai the most internationally diverse World Expo in the history of the event.

October 20 will mark five years until the Expo will open its gates to the public and the milestone will be celebrated by UAE Day at Expo Milano 2015, where the UAE pavilion is a major attraction for visitors.
