A new partnership between Hyperloop Transportation Technologies and Aldar Developers has been made to connect the new Al Ghadeer community near the Dubai border with Yas Island and other routes by 2020.
The announcement was made at property exhibition Cityscape at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre on Wednesday.
Details of specific routes have not yet been announced, but it is understood an airport link is being considered via a 10km track.
An innovation, research and development centre is also due to be developed on the new residential development between Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
“The Hyperloop officially starts today from Al Ghadeer and we will then begin to connect the rest of the Emirates,” said Bibop Gresta, chairman of Hyperloop TT.
“We will publish all of the data after the design and build phase one, when we will be able to release more details.
“Several routes are under consideration, but we want to connect the airport, Al Ain and Saudi Arabia.
“We hope to speed up all of the necessary conditions and we will have a very strict deadline ahead of Expo, but it is all dependent on conditional permits.
“Then the details will be announced and construction will begin, but we hope to begin at the start of 2019.
“Right now, this is the biggest project, but we will have other projects in future.”
