An Emirates plane was damaged after it was forced to abort a take-off in Cairo because on an unauthorised vehicle on the runway.
“Unexpected braking at high speed caused damage to the tyres and the aircraft returned back to the terminal,” the airline said in a statement on Monday.
Flight EK 928 from Cairo to Dubai was delayed by more than eight hours, prompting passengers to take to Twitter to complain that they were not kept informed about the delay.
Emirates said passengers were disembarked and a replacement aircraft was arranged.
The airline apologised for inconvenience caused.
Emirates said authorities were investigating the incident.
