Abu Dhabi's huge new snow park is well on its way to completion. Snow Abu Dhabi, which will house the world’s biggest snow play area, is set to open in the upcoming Reem Mall on Reem Island by the end of 2020.
The park will occupy an area of 11,612 square metres, and feature five distinct zones. The entrance will be dominated by Snowflake Garden, an open-play area with activities such as ice labyrinths and all the accoutrements to build a snowman.
Next will be the Crystal Carousel, centred around a twinkling winter forest and all the magical creatures found within.
The park will maintain an interior temperature of -2°C and a snow depth of 20 inches. Should you feel extra chilly, head to Blizzard’s Bazaar. The quirky retail outlet will sell hats and other cold-weather clothing, plus postcards and other icy souvenirs.
A visit to Snow Abu Dhabi will culminate with a climb up Flurries’ Mountain, which leads to the park’s piece de resistance, the Enchanted Tree. Much like Enid Blyton’s beloved creation, the tree will soar above the park with creative ornamentation to be found on every branch. Winter wonderland-style characters will set the mood, and assist visitors to and from the 13 planned rides and games.
“The story behind Snow Park Abu Dhabi is the great differentiator from any other snow park in the world, and we look forward to revealing more details in due course,” says Shane Eldstrom, chief executive of Al Farwaniya Property Developers.
Other than Snow Abu Dhabi, Reem Mall will also offer 2 million square feet of shops, restaurants, a hypermarket and entertainment, including a cinema and Magic Planet. So far, more than 6,000 tonnes of the steel structural frame has been erected.
