It's been delayed by more than a year, but the UAE's rock-climbing enthusiasts will be delighted to hear that the world’s largest indoor, air-conditioned climbing wall is set to open in Abu Dhabi on Friday, November 29.
Located on Yas Island and connected to Yas Mall and Ferrari World, the sporting facility will feature a 43-metre indoor climbing wall – the world’s tallest – which will be perfect for beginner, intermediate and expert climbers. There will be four walls in total, of varying and increasing difficulty.
"A Dh367 million project, Clymb Abu Dhabi is designed to present unique sporting challenges to active lifestyle enthusiasts from around the world and enhances the emirate’s position as a global tourism destination, with world-class attractions for all travellers," the media office said.
And it doesn't end there. The project will also be home to the world’s widest flight chamber, according to developer, Miral.
The flight chamber will allow guests to mimic a skydiving experience in a 9.75m-wide chamber, which makes it the world’s widest. So, if you're too afraid to commit to a full Skydive Dubai jump, you can get a taste for the adventure sport here.
In March last year, progress on the indoor skydiving and climbing-wall venue was delayed when a fire broke out at the construction site. It had been scheduled to open last year.
The new attraction features a range of food and beverage outlets as well as providing a space to host parties and social events. An easily accessible and air-conditioned passageway links CLYMB™ Abu Dhabi to the nearby Yas Mall and Ferrari World Abu Dhabi enabling seamless connection and convenience. The new attraction complements Yas Island’s other unrivalled offerings, with close proximity to Yas Waterworld, Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi and all the other attractions and experiences on the island.
