The World Tolerance Summit, organised by the International Institute for Tolerance one of the initiatives of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, concluded on Thursday with policymakers and heads of international organisations calling for policies that can establish a culture of tolerance worldwide.
Tolerance Leaders Debate titled Achieving the Social, Economic and Humane Benefits of a Tolerant World discussed on the measure nations can take to make a tolerant world. The debate was attended by Rustam Nurgaliyevich Minnikhanov, President Republic of Tatarstan, and moderated by Ali Al Alayani, Editor in Chief and Presenter, the Middle East Broadcasting Centre, Saudi Arabia.
A number of government officials, foundations and organisations, ministers, experts, clerics, and media representatives participated in the day two sessions, including inspirational sessions and interactive workshops.
In his welcoming speech, Minister of Tolerance of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Nahyan Mubarak Al Nahyan thanked the guests for taking part in the summit. He expressed his confidence that this event will become a global platform to foster a dialogue for the prosperity of all mankind.
“This forum is a direct continuation of the great work that has been underway in the United Arab Emirates for many years. We are proud of how widespread the principles of tolerance are in our country. UAE residents are building their future, bringing up children without fear of possible manifestations of extremism and racial segregation,” he said.
Tolerance is a spiritual energy that is good for society and helps strengthen peace and solidarity, Sheikh Nahyan Mubarak Al Nahyan added.
After the opening ceremony, Tatarstan President, the UAE Minister of Tolerance and other honoured guests visited the exhibition organized at the forum venue. In particular, the guests attended the stand of the Republic of Tatarstan, where the information on the regional experience in strengthening interethnic and interfaith relations, on the reconstruction of religious sites and monuments and the activities of the Peoples' Friendship Houses was presented.
The second World Tolerance Summit is being held in Dubai on November 13-14 and brings together representatives of various states, religious and educational institutions, cultural associations, non-governmental organizations and opinion leaders. The event is dedicated to tolerance and cultural understanding aimed at strengthening peace and mutual understanding between people.
On November 14, on the sidelines of the second World Tolerance Summit in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with Minister of Tolerance of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Nahyan Mubarak Al Nahyan.
Tatarstan President thanked the UAE leadership for the opportunity to take part in the summit. He emphasized that this forum is a unique venue for dialogue between different civilizations, cultures and religions aimed at strengthening the cooperation between countries.
Minnikhanov also said that Tatarstan attaches great importance to the development of partnerships with the UAE under the Russian-Emirate relations.
The UAE Minister of Tolerance expressed gratitude to Minnikhanov for the participation in the summit and attention to issues of cooperation with the United Arab Emirates.
