Dubai, UAE; 4 June 2015 – Dubai Parks and Resorts, set to become the Middle East’s largest multi-themed leisure and entertainment destination when it opens in October 2016, has announced that 220,000 square feet of leasable opportunities for dining and retail are now available within Riverland™ Dubai – one of several components of this first-of-its-kind development.
An unprecedented project in the heart of the Arabian Gulf region, Dubai Parks and Resorts will simultaneously open LEGOLAND® Dubai, Bollywood Parks™ Dubai, motiongate™ Dubai, together with LEGOLAND® Water Park and Lapita™ Hotel, a Polynesian-themed resort catering to families. Riverland™ Dubai will be at the heart of this landmark destination, as both the main entrance to the site and also a connecting point between all the parks and their many thrilling rides, shows and attractions.
Riverland™ Dubai has been designed to appeal to both local residents and tourist. It has been inspired by much-loved and unique pedestrian-friendly public spaces across the globe - that combine amusement and attractions with retail and dining experiences - such as London’s Covent Garden, Barcelona’s Las Ramblas and New York’s Times Square.
Raed Al Nuaimi, CEO of Dubai Parks and Resorts said; “Every visitor to Dubai Parks and Resorts will pass through Riverland™ Dubai on their way into our four parks - however it will also be much more than just the entrance – it is an exciting destination in its own right. The waterside location will be an exceptional attraction for Dubai - a place for families to come together, relax and enjoy the entertainment and vast array of welcoming dining experiences.
Klaus Assmann, Vice President of Retail and Hospitality added “Riverland™ Dubai will feature over 50 dedicated outlets and serve as a grand entryway to all our guests. With 6.7 million ticketed visits expected at the theme parks during our first full year of operation in 2017, the opportunities for retailers and dining operators are vast – from shops and street cafes to formal restaurants. As the centrepiece of this leisure and entertainment development, Riverland™ Dubai offers significant consumer potential and we look forward to receiving leasing applications for this exceptional space.”
All guests will begin their journey at Dubai Parks and Resorts by strolling through Riverland™ Dubai’s medieval French village, where they can soak in the Renaissance vigour with street performances, outdoor Mediterranean style dining and iconic landscapes featuring towers, turrets and a working water wheel.
The journey continues to the heady days of the American 1950s, as guests experience the thrill of live entertainment that is fun for all the family, including jugglers, stilt walkers and live musicians. Modern architecture, cool palm trees and glowing neon signs welcome visitors to a host of casual dining options, where they can relax before continuing their journey or grab-and-go as they continue to explore the rest of the park.
Next, guests will be greeted with a royal Asian welcome at India Gate, as musicians and acrobats take visitors on an exhilarating voyage across India. Guests can tantalize their taste buds with a lively mix of casual dining venues, along with quick street-style eateries, catering Indian and Asian style cuisine across a sprawling town centre. A range of dedicated retail outlets and family entertainment facilities will also be on offer.
Finally, guests can relax at The Peninsula, where they can groove to their favourite songs at concerts or wander through open festivals right in the heart of Riverland™ Dubai. Surrounded by a winding river, The Peninsula will feature pavilions, dedicated entertainment space and dining areas,
