Germany was honored to host the 39th session of the World Heritage Committee, and welcomed all delegates and participants from 28 June to 8 July 2015 in Bonn.
The WHC is an intergovernmental body which takes control of the implementation of UNESCO’s Convention concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage (1972), takes decisions on including national objects into the World Heritage List – the catalogue of the most prominent world monuments, takes control of the usage and the conservation of the world heritage objects situated on territories of the member states. This important forum eventuates once a year in one of the member states of the Committee.
According to the adopted decision 24 new objects – 23 cultural and 1 mixed (of cultural and natural value simultaneously) – were included into the World Heritage List.
This year it was refilled particularly by such objects – Speicherstadt and Kontorhaus District with Chilehaus in Hamburg (Germany); Singapore Botanical Gardens; Climats, terroirs of Burgundy, Champagne Hillsides, Houses and Cellars (France); Rock Art in the Hail Region of Saudi Arabia; Necropolis of Bet She’arim (Israel); Cultural Landscape of Maymand, Susa (Iran); Baekje Historic Areas (Republic of Korea); Diyarbakir Fortress and Hevsel Gardens Cultural Landscape, Ephesus (Turkey).
