Dubai Shopping Festival moves high-end fashion to the streets of Dubai with ‘Street Runways’

 Luxury fashion to take spotlight at three special locations on 18, 23 and 25 January

The Dubai Shopping Festival is continuing to maintain its reputation for  offering unique shopping experiences to visitors by hosting a number of special events focusing on the Apparel and Fashion Theme at its ongoing 21st edition,  aimed at highlighting and helping to boost a sector that has helped Dubai emerge as a must-visit fashion capital.

Indeed, connoisseurs of fashion will be able to ‘Unwrap The Best of Style’  this DSF with some unique fashion events featuring luxury brands.   One such event will be the Street Runways, the first of its kind in the region, consisting of fashion shows at three special locations in Dubai that will create a fashion landscape showcasing luxury fashion in a high-street setting with must-visit destinations forming the backdrop for each of the shows.

The Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE) ,  an agency of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM),  and the organisers of DSF 2016, has been working closely with leading retail brands to engage shoppers with unique activations, and  the ‘Street Runways’ series of fashion shows will not only highlight luxury brands in Dubai but also move high-end fashion to the streets of Dubai., as well as giving guests the opportunity to experience the ambience of the unique locations in which they are being held.

Fashionistas  can look forward to enjoying the Street Runways at Al Fahidi on the 18 January, Burj Plaza, Downtown Dubai on  23 January and Meena Bazaar, Bur Dubai  on  25 January. All hair and makeup at the three fashion shows will be from Paris Gallery.

The three locations – Al Fahidi, Burj Plaza and Meena Bazaar – will each provide the audience with a differing style to suit the brands and clothes that are showcased.

The Al Fahidi District will have models strutting through the alleyways of the Al Bastakia area, with the guests, who have been invited to the event, being able to watch the show from two and three seater tables from the sidelines of the streets. Brands taking part in the Al Fahidi Street Runway on the 18th January will be Reem’s Closet, GardeRobe, House of Glamz, Beshtar,  Neon Edge and XVE. Attendance at this show is by invitation only.

The Burj Plaza Street Runway on 23 January will feature the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa  as a backdrop.   This luxury show  is being curated by luxury fashion brand, S*uce., who will also be dressing the models.

The Meena Bazaar Street Runway in Bur Dubai on 25 January will draw attention to the traditional Indian wedding rituals, as models in extravagant Indian wedding ensembles take to the walkways of Meena Bazaar, led by a festive Indian band.  and showcasing some of unique styles of various brands.

DSF 2016 runs until 1 February under the tagline ‘Unwrap The Exceptional’ , offering residents and visitors from around the world to experience the best in shopping, winnings and entertainment at the longest running festival of its kind in the world.
