Remember that exciting moment in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001) when Angelina Jolie and Gerard Butler escape a bunch of bad guys by jumping off a building in their wingsuits? As they zoom away in the sky we the audience watched in breathless anticipation, amazed at the possibility of what is perhaps the closest thing mankind can do to flying like a bird. Most of us would have even dismissed it all as a movie stunt and nothing more. But...
Now XDubai in collaboration with Skydive Dubai have released a new adrenalin-packed video of four of XDubai’s wingsuit crew zipping through Dubai Marina, weaving in and out of its towering skyscrapers.
Catch all the action here on the Aviamost website!
The stunt in Lara Croft was incidentally performed by the two men who developed the unique suits. It was invented by Patrick de Gayardon, who unfortunately died in a parachute accident in April 1998 while testing a new type of parachute in Hawaii.
And here’s some inspiration from XDubai’s website whose motto is ‘Join us. Defy Your Limits’:
When you fly, your mind is fixed on the route and doesn’t run free.
The flight to greatness is a fine line between your dreams and reality.
The ultimate place to fly this fine line is in Dubai, through its concrete mountains and tarmac valleys.
Watch us challenge the maze, the line and the mind.
