Dubai Culture & Arts Authority, the Emirate’s dedicated entity for culture, arts and heritage, has welcomed a number of CEOs of Happiness to the seventh edition of SIKKA Art Fair, which runs until the 21st March and is held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice Chairman of Dubai Culture.
During the visit, the CEOs of Happiness toured SIKKA Art Fair and were introduced to its new happiness activities, which aim to spread joy across the city. Among a myriad of happiness enhancing initiatives, dedicated children’s workshops include ‘Right Side Brain Activation Painting’, ‘Yoga for Kids’ and ‘Happiness Jar’, while adults are invited to partake in ‘Blindfolded Art Therapy’, ‘Laughter Meditation’ and ‘Sound Healing Meditation with Singing Bowls’. The workshops are being hosted by experts and aim to promote contentment and well-being.
Latifa bint Demaithan, Manager of the Vice Chairman’s Office at Dubai Culture and the Authority’s CEO of Happiness and Positivity, commented: “We were delighted to welcome the CEOs of Happiness to SIKKA Art Fair 2017, which has a core focus on spreading joy and creativity. This follows the directions given by Her Highness Sheikha Latifa after last year’s visit to place happiness firmly on the agenda in line with National Happiness Programme for Happiness and Positivity and the Dubai Plan 2021. This year’s edition of the fair has been recognised by Her Excellency Ohoud Bint Khalfan Al Roumi – Minister of State for Happiness – who has visited SIKKA for the second time this year. By spreading the joy of art and celebrating GCC, Emirati and UAE-based talent, SIKKA Art Fair is contributing to making Dubai a city of happy, creative and empowered people who are proud of their cultural identities. The fair is a crucial part of Dubai Culture’s efforts to spread happiness and positivity in both the arts sector and in society as a whole.”
During SIKKA Art Fair, the National Programme for Happiness and Positivity will also stage an interactive showcase of children’s drawings as part of the ‘Happiness in the Eyes of UAE Children’ initiative. This will allow visitors to view selected artworks created by students from schools across the UAE, and will take place alongside other new 2017 initiatives – ‘SIKKA Around the City’ and ‘SIKKA Art Bus’ – in the fair’s exciting calendar of exhibitions, workshops, recitals and improvisational performances.
SIKKA Art Fair is a flagship initiative of the Authority’s Dubai Art Season – the city-wide activation of cultural events that runs throughout March and April 2017 and also takes places under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The annual umbrella event on the Dubai cultural and creative calendar aims to highlight the city's global credentials on the arts scene, and brings together artists from around the world for an unmatched celebration of talent, creativity, innovation and cultural diversity.
The 7th Sikka Art Fair 2017 opened on 11th March and will run upto 21st March 2017 in the Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood.
