WAM -- The capital, Abu Dhabi, will host the 8th Zayed Humanitarian Work Day in the middle of June, with the participation of 44 government and private institutions and their representatives, concerned with humanitarian work.
The work day will coincide with the UAE Humanitarian Conference, held, under the theme, "Loyalty, Dedication and Giving", to commemorate the memory of the Founder and Leader, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, in partnership with the Emirates Volunteering Centre, the Arab Society for Social Responsibility and the Arab Institution for Humanitarian Work.
The Zayed Humanitarian Work aims to contribute to developing humanitarian giving and volunteer work and to exchange expertise between institutions and support their partnerships and co-operations, as well as promote practical programmes to increase the efficiency of government and private community institutions working in humanitarian, community and volunteer areas. It also aims to guarantee quality and international standards for the success of humanitarian and community projects and programmes. The activities of the opening ceremony will include a documentary movie about "Zayed the Giving", whose gentle hands have touched different countries around the world.
Dr. Adel Al Shameri, CEO of the Zayed Giving Initiative and Chairman of the Emirates Community and Specialised Volunteering Programme, said, "The UAE has always been a model of goodness and giving in the field of Arab, Islamic and international humanitarian work, at the forefront of extending its charitable hands to humanitarian issues in any part of the world while disregarding geographic distance and religious, racial or cultural differences, earning it global respect and appreciation."
Moza Al Otaiba, Member of the Board of Trustees of the Zayed Giving Initiative, said, "The Zayed Humanitarian Work Day contains humanitarian and social aspects and is working to serve and promote several noble humanitarian causes while finding appropriate and rapid solutions for problems and issues faced by different communities, in light of the difficult circumstances witnessed by many countries around the world in terms of conflicts, tragic events, social problems and many others."
Al Anoud Al Ajmi, Executive-Director of the Emirates Volunteering Centre, stressed that the Emirates Volunteering Centre, with its participation in the Zayed Humanitarian Work Day and the UAE Humanitarian Conference, has produced excellent results for the Humanitarian Work Day initiative, which is dedicated to the memory of the Father and Leader, the Founder of the country, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, as a reminder to some of his goodness and humanitarian work in serving the entire world.
Dr. Khaled Boumatee, from the Arab Society for Social Responsibility, stated that humanity can read the history of a country through the biography of a man, with its history being mixed with the personality. Thus, we can read the history of the UAE by reading the biography of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, he added.
Hashem Al Raidah, Secretary-General of the Arab Institution for Humanitarian Work, said, "Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan has set the UAE’s foundations of an integrated civilised project, whose centre is the human, who came from and will die in the country.
Sultan Al Khayal, Member of the Board of Trustees of the Zayed Giving Initiative and Secretary-General of Sharjah Charity House, stressed for the memory of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan be revived, to return each year into our minds, and what this great man has achieved in goodness and giving is difficult to realise so soon.
