The Musée des Arts Décoratifs is celebrating the 70th anniversary of the creation of the House of Dior. This lavish and comprehensive exhibition invites visitors on a voyage of discovery through the universe of the House of Dior’s founder and the illustrious couturiers who succeeded him: Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Bohan, Gianfranco Ferré, John Galliano, Raf Simons and, most recently, Maria Grazia Chiuri.
To mark the 70th anniversary of the creation of the Christian Dior house in 1947, the Museum of Decorative Arts is dedicating an exhibition to the person that was Christian Dior (1905-1957), to the major part he played in the history of fashion, and to the aesthetic and cultural legacy he has left since his death. Visitors will have the chance to revisit the historical work of the great couturier, while highlighting his influence on contemporary design.
More than 400 dresses that are among the most beautiful creations from the Christian Dior house from 1947 to the present day will be exhibited. Echoing these major pieces will be the pictorial, graphic and decorative works that fed the imagination of the couturier, thus evoking his world as well as that of those who have followed in his footsteps since 1957.
