ASTANA, 8th September 2017 (WAM) - Dauren Abayev, Minister of Information and Communication of Kazakhstan, received, on Friday, a UAE media delegation that was headed by Mansour Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Director-General of the National Media Council, NMC.

Also present were Dr. Mohammed Ahmed bin Sultan Al Jaber, UAE Ambassador to Kazakhstan, and Mohammed Jalal Al Raisi, Executive Director of the Emirates News Agency, WAM.

Abayev welcomed the UAE delegation and praised the progressive relations between the two countries. He also expressed his desire to develop bilateral co-operation in media and information, through the exchange of expertise and close co-operation between his ministry and the NMC, as well between WAM and Kazakhstan's news agency.

Al Mansouri praised the growing co-operation between the UAE and Kazakhstan while adding that both countries have considerable potential in the areas of the media.

Ambassador Al Jaber thanked Abayev and expressed the UAE's desire to develop co-operation with Kazakhstan in various fields.

Earlier today Emirates News Agency, WAM, and Kazakhstan's International News Agency, Kazinform, have agreed to enhance their co-operation in news exchange and training.

The agreement was made during a meeting between Mohammed Jalal Al Raisi, Executive Director of WAM, and Askar Omarov, Director-General of Kazinform.

Al Raisi stated that the meeting discussed ways of implementing the co-operation agreement between the two agencies, which includes sharing cultural and economic bulletins, as well as increasing the number of mutual visits by both sides, to further exchange their expertise.

He also congratulated Kazakhstan on the successful organisation of the Expo 2017 Astana.

Omarov complimented WAM for its approach in keeping pace with the latest trends in modern media while adding that the agency is a major source of the latest news for Kazinform.

WAM and Kazinform already signed a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, during the World Government Summit in Dubai.

The MoU aims to enhance their co-operation in the field of news exchange, in line with the local laws and legislations of both countries, as well as establish the foundations of a beneficial relationship and friendship between the two media organisations.

It also includes training programmes and the exchange of news services and digital photographs using modern technology, according to the international standards of news organisations and agencies.

As per the MoU, each side will focus on covering national occasions, conferences and local, regional and international meetings, which are of interest to the other party.
