Gulf News -- Whether people are looking to make investments, holiday plans or a new place to call home, the reputation of a city is quite important.
And it should come as no surprise that Dubai has made the list.
The Boston-based Reputation Institute has recently revealed the most reputable cities in 2017 after carrying a global survey of more than 23,000 consumer ratings in G8 nations.
In its report, Dubai was ranked at 36th place, and is the only city from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) that has made it in the top 40.
Sydney took first place as the city with the best reputation in the world, followed by Copenhagen and Vienna.
A total of 56 cities were ranked according to an online poll carried out last February and March.
The best reputable city in the US was San Francisco in 22nd place, followed by New York at 23 and Seattle at 27.
Meanwhile, Mexico City, Moscow and Cairo were placed in the last three spots.
“Cities that successfully manage their reputation and improve their scores are gaining strong support across their stakeholders,” said Nicolas Georges Trad, executive partner at Reputation Institute.
“These are important issues for local policymakers concerned about tourism, relocation and investment, as there is a direct link between a city’s reputation and people’s willingness to visit, work and live there.
