The special coin is set to be circulated today.

“The commemorative dirham will be put in circulation through branches of the Central Bank with effect from Wednesday, 22nd November, as per usual practice,” the announcement reads.

The Central Bank had issued the commemorative coin back in 2005. It was meant to recognise the enormous efforts by the Mother of the Nation to create a "bright and prosperous future for generations of UAE men and women."

The old version of the Dh1 coin can still be seen being advertised for sale on e-commerce sites like souq.com.
