The National -- Najmat Taiba (Star of Taiba), the world’s largest gold ring recognised by the Guinness Book of World Records, is on display at Sahara Centre, Sharjah.

The 21-carat behemoth weighs 64 kilograms, and is studded with more 5kg of diamonds and other precious stones, as well as 615 Swarovski crystals. It’s valued at about US$3 million (Dh11m).

The ring cost $547,000 to make back in 2000, when gold was priced at about $250 an ounce. Gold prices has since soared and are now trading at about $1,497.

The piece is owned by Dubai-based Taiba, and will be displayed by Rossella Jewellery. It has been shown previously at the Gold Souq in Dubai and at the Sharjah Jewellery Show.
