Highlights include Dubai International Holy Quran Award, Dubai Ramadan Forum, Ramadan Tents, Ramadan Night Market and numerous community and charitable activities

‘Ramadan in Dubai’, an annual social and cultural campaign organised by the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), an agency of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), is set to further enhance the emirate’s position as a year-round family tourism destination through a line-up of unique offerings at its 5th successive edition this year.

As a citywide initiative, ‘Ramadan in Dubai’, due to commence on 19 June, will give residents and visitors from around the world the opportunity to experience and understand the uniqueness of the Holy Month of Ramadan through numerous cultural, community and family-oriented events based on Islamic values, tradition and culture. ‘Ramadan in Dubai’ is part of the wider Dubai Summer Calendar drawn up by DFRE, and which is aimed at showcasing the emirate as a top family tourism destination during the summer.

With Dubai being home to people from different cultural backgrounds and faiths, ‘Ramadan in Dubai’ is also an opportunity to promote cross-cultural understanding, and enlighten people from non-Muslim communities on the Islamic faith and provide valuable insights into this month of reflection and self-restraint. Further, “Ramadan in Dubai” has also galvanized Dubai’s retail sector into coming up with a number of special offers, deals and discounts aimed at capturing the attention of Ramadan shoppers.

Announcing the Calendar of Events of ‘Ramadan in Dubai 2015’, H.E. Laila Mohammad Suhail, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), said: “By launching the fifth edition of ‘‘Ramadan in Dubai’’ we aim to give everyone an opportunity to savour a fascinating citywide experience that highlights the cultural, social and spiritual aspects of this Holy Month and also helps showcase Dubai as a leading family tourism destination while still keeping the city’s Islamic customs and heritage intact.

“As all our festivals, special occasions and celebrations are designed with the aim of reaching out to all communities and people of all cultural backgrounds in all corners of the city, we have focused on ensuring that a wide audience as possible, both residents and visitors, get to experience the diverse ‘Ramadan in Dubai’ offerings such as the Dubai International Holy Quran Award, Dubai Ramadan Forum, Ramadan Tents and the Ramadan Night Market.”
