“There are few hours in life more agreeable than the ceremony known as Afternoon Tea”, said Henry James, American writer.  In honour of the established and revered ritual, Shai Salon at Four Seasons Resort Dubai at Jumeirah Beach introduces a unique duo of Afternoon Tea offerings.  Available daily from 3-6pm, guests are able to select from two distinctly different experiences; a Traditional Afternoon or Arabic Modern Tea.

Set in the heart of the newly opened beach side resort, Shai Salon offers an elegant escape in which to share tea together with friends and family, complete with sumptuous sofas indoors and an outdoor terrace offering views of the landscaped gardens and pools.  Taking its name from “tea” in Arabic, a key highlight of the Tea experience is the wide variety of JING loose-leaf teas.  As part of the Afternoon Tea offering, guests can select from ten different types of teas, including Dragon Well and Moroccan Mint green blends, and lemongrass and ginger herbal infusions, with complimentary hot water refills. Additionally, live entertainment is provided during weekends, through the musical stylings of a harpist.

Traditional Afternoon Tea

A quintessential experience, the Traditional Afternoon Tea includes classic favourites exquisitely presented on a three-tiered silver stand.  Guests can enjoy over 12 different items including a selection of freshly prepared savoury finger sandwiches, such as savoury egg salad and watercress, cucumber and cream cheese, smoked salmon and horse radish cream, and smoked turkey and English mustard.  An indulgent sweet selection is offered in the form of a berry cream puff, fresh fruit tartlet, macaroons English lemon cake, milk chocolate tartlet, and mille feuille.  Essential to the traditional Afternoon meal is a basket of warm cranberry pistachio and raisin lemon scones, served with orange marmalade, clotted cream and strawberry jam.

Modern Arabic Afternoon Tea

As part of the Modern Arabic Afternoon Tea experience, guests can delight in a choice of traditional Turkish coffee or Moroccan Tea to accompany a delicate selection of 18 traditional regional favourites.  A selection of tea sandwiches including Tzatziki prawn pita, mint labneh, pickled cucumber, chicken shawarma, and garlic spread Zaatar quiche, are served with traditional Arabic sweets of Bourma cashew and pistachio, maamoul, asabeh Basma, ghorayebah and Muhallabia Dates with roasted nuts, along with dried fruits and chocolate praline.  The tea also includes warm date cardamom and raisin lemon scones, accompanied by dates and fig marmalade, pomegranate syrup, orange sour cream.

Afternoon Tea is available at Shai Salon daily from 3-6pm.  The Traditional Afternoon Tea is priced at AED 180 per person, and the Modern Arabic Afternoon Tea is priced at AED 160 per person. All prices are in AED, inclusive of 10% municipality fee & 10% service charge.  For reservations please contact +971 4 270 7777.
