Motorists in the UAE will find filling up their car at the pumps next month will cost them that little bit extra.
The Ministry of Energy has announced that Super 98 will rise 5.4 per cent to Dh2.12 in October from Dh2.01, while Special 95 moves up 5.79 per cent to Dh2.01 from Dh1.90, E-Plus will increase to Dh1.94 from Dh1.83.
Customers buying diesel will pay 5 per cent more starting Sunday at Dh2.10.
Petrol and diesel are made from crude oil, which means that the price of oil impacts the price to fill up a car tank.
This past month the global benchmark, Brent crude, has shot up more than 12 per cent to US$58.34 in midday trading compared to last month.
The UAE government liberalised the cost of fuel in 2015 using “benchmark prices”, a method that has not publicly been disclosed.
