The National -- Heavy rain lashed parts of the UAE on Wednesday leaving drivers navigating through flooded streets.

As the coastal cities continued to see dry and hot conditions, it was a dramatically different story in land as rain fell heavily in the north-east.

The towns of Wadi Al Hilo, Nizwa, Mahafaz and Khatherah in Sharjah, Masafi, Marbad in Fujairah, Wadi Sifni, Kadra, Daftah, Wadi Al Ajeeli, Al Menai in Ras Al Kahimah, Mezairah in Ajman and Al Habab in Dubai were all deluged.

The National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) had forecast the possibility of rains and the rain came in force.
