The renowned Michelin-starred chef Gary Rhodes has re-opened the revamped Rhodes Mezzanine as Rhodes W1, a British restaurant, bar and terrace, at Grosvenor House Dubai.
Its charming décor has a vintage English touch to it with lots of clean white offset by brilliant colour, with fresh green tones, faux grass-covered walls, glass chandeliers of butterflies trickling from the ceiling, gold and white butterfly adorned doors and brightly coloured bucolic murals. In effect it brings the charm of an English garden indoors. There is also a private dining area with a view of the kitchen and across the restaurant.
At Rhodes W1 you can enjoy hearty, nostalgic British favourites, most of them done the traditional slow-cooked way like Shepherd’s pie, irish stew broth, smoked haddock, Welsh rarebit with a freah tomato and chive salad. Main dishes feature roast rack of lamb with Lancashire cheese and onion pan haggerty, lamb gravy, homemade redcurrant jelly with minted peas and leeks. Others items include braised oxtails with creamy mashed potatoes, black bream with wilted baby spinach, sampgite, caper and fresh herb dumplings and a red wine butter sauce.
The dessert menu offers steamed jam roly poly with jam sauce and fresh vanilla custard, warm eccles cakes with home-made stilton ice cream, lemon curd and clotted cream mousse with warm mini cones and strawberries.
The bar is bright and open-plan with fresh white lattice detail. The bar team serves signature Rhodes W1 cocktails, extensive cocktail, wine, gin and champagne list, diners can also help themselves to cold draft beer. The bar also has its own menu of tasty ‘nibbles’.
So for English cuisine with a genuine British stamp to it, topped by Michelin star elegance, simply head to Rhodes W1.
