20,000 students join Sheikh Mohammed as he hoists flag marking the UAE’s Flag Day today

WAM -- In celebration of Flag Day, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, raised the UAE flag in Zabeel Park this morning in the presence of more than 20,000 school students, representing almost 120 different nationalities residing in the country.

The Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai marked the event by raising the flag on a 12-metre flag pole with the national anthem playing in the background.

Sheikh Mohammed was accompanied by his daughter Sheikha Jalila bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and The Future, Khalifa Saeed Suleiman, Director-General of the Protocol and Hospitality Department in Dubai, and a number of senior officials.

UAE Flag Day is marked on November 3rd and celebrates the anniversary of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan's assumption of office as the leader of the country.
